Contact our legal team directly by phone, email, WhatsApp or online form

Your first conversation is with the lawyer handling your matter, whether it concerns civil and commercial litigation, business transactions, gaming and anti-money laundering compliance, Canadian immigration, or cryptocurrency tax and legal services. Briefly describe the background, key dates and any documents you have received. We will explain your options, the information we need and the next steps.

We usually respond within one business day. We use the information you provide to check for conflicts of interest and make a preliminary assessment. A written retainer agreement is required before we formally act for you. If you have received court documents, a letter from a lawyer or correspondence from immigration authorities, please include the date you received them and any stated deadlines. Call us directly if a deadline is urgent.

How your first consultation works

Find out what to prepare and what happens at each stage, from your first enquiry to formally retaining us.

  1. Send us a summary of your matter

Send us the background, amounts involved and key dates using the form, email or WhatsApp. List any contracts, correspondence or application numbers you already have. If there is a deadline to file a defence, attend a hearing or submit a filing, mention it when you first contact us.

  2. Conflict check and preliminary assessment

We first check for conflicts of interest involving the parties. A lawyer in the relevant practice area then reviews your matter, possible approaches and any urgent deadlines. We usually respond within one business day and explain what additional information we need.

  3. First meeting: in person or via video

Your first meeting is with the lawyer handling your matter. It takes about 30–60 minutes and covers the facts, evidence, and the costs, timing and risks of your options. You can meet us at our Toronto or Montréal office or by video. We explain any consultation fee in advance.

  4. Retainer agreement and getting started

Our written retainer agreement sets out the scope of services, hourly rates or fixed fees, advance payments and how we will communicate. Documents can be signed electronically. Once the agreement is signed and the agreed advance payment is received, we begin work and confirm the next steps.
