What exactly does “partner-led” mean?
At many law firms, “partner-led” means little more than a partner signing the retainer agreement. Our definition is more specific, and the difference shows in the case record.

What partner-led means here. The partner responsible for the matter takes the first call, reads the key documents, drafts the case theory, prepares the witnesses, takes part in examinations and presents the case in court. Their name appears in the official record.
Partner-supervised is not the same thing. Many “partner-led” models are in fact partner-supervised. Partners review and sign work prepared by others, attend a few key examinations, or arrive at trial after another team has already built the evidentiary record.
Why it requires limits. Real partner leadership means limiting the number of active matters each partner carries, so that the partner knows the documents, the witnesses and the strategy.
A practical test. When a new document appears in court, has the lawyer at the podium read the material relevant to that witness? Cross-examinations are often decided within seconds.
