Frequently asked questions
Questions clients ask before a consultation
General information only. The answer for your situation depends on its facts.
What is a protection mandate and when does it take effect?
It is a document in which you name someone to take care of you and your property if you become incapable. It takes effect only after it has been homologated, that is, approved by the court.
What happens when I refinance my mortgage?
The notary prepares and signs the new hypothec deed, pays out the existing lender from the new loan and registers the documents at the land registry.
Why make a notarial will in Quebec?
A notarial will is kept by the notary and recorded in the Chambre des notaires’ register, and it does not need to be probated by a court.
